Years of wind, sun, rain, and cold had caused the original stain on this Nanoose Bay home to degrade and exposed the wood to sun-fading and mildew. Without proper staining maintenance, this teak entrance way became unwelcoming to the homeowners and guests.
Hearing concern for cleanliness and a wish to lower the impact of stain residue in the environment, we used an industry leading variable function sanding unit combined with a dust extractor by Festool for this fine refinishing.
The walls, sill plate, and ceiling were sanded down to bare wood. The homeowners wished for the door to only be cleaned and top-coated. An anti-mildew and fungal treatment was sprayed before coating the wood with two rounds of Sansin oil-based cedar colour stain and finishing with a top coat of Sansin clear base to further protect this like-new finish.
