After 20 years of periodic top coating and little cleaning, the sun-scorched logs of this large Courtenay log carport had seen better days. The stain had failed many years ago and the owners, with newfound time on the property for projects, wanted to see this carport returned to its former glory.

The clients wanted to have the logs stripped, cleaned, brightened, and preserved rather than bringing the surface down with sanding or blasting.

We used a non-caustic stripper to remove the old finish, applied twice in some more stubborn areas. The logs were then brightened with a cleaning agent followed with a preservative application to resist rot and powder bugs. We then finished the structure with two coats of oil-based Sunfast Varnish at the clients request and the logs of this stunning carport glimmered yet again.
